Hi, I'm Jack. I've had a love for photography since I was a teenager and bought my first Minolota 35mm single lens reflex camera. I especially enjoyed capturing images of nature and the people and places that make the rural South, where I grew up, so special. But after I got married and got busy raising three children, I had to put what was my amateur avocation aside. For the next several years, my photos were limited to my kids' school and sporting events, family get-togethers and shots from the occasional camping/fishing trips to the Gulf of Mexico. After I retired three years ago, I found I had the time to renew my passion for taking photos. I especially enjoy capturing images of God's creation and (quite by accident) discovered that I enjoy shooting the action, competition, patriotism, dedication and even the lighthearted and candid moments found in the rodeo arena. Please take a look at my work. I think you will find something that catches your eye.
Below you will find galleries of all of the rodeos I have photographed over the past three years grouped by month. Please scroll through them.
I have tried to capture the grit, determination, comradery and bravery of the cowboys and cowgirls who love this sport - from the youngest mutton busters to the oldest bronc and bull riders. There is a spirit and love found in the rodeo arena that cannot be found in any other place on earth. I hope I have been able to share that through my photography.
If you are a nature lover, please check out my photos of ducks, Sand Hill Cranes, hummingbirds, green anoles and other special creatures found in God's creation. They may not be as exciting as watching a bucking bronc, but they are just as beautiful.
